Privacy Policy
IQ Innovations, LLC is committed to protecting the privacy
of students, parents, teachers and education professionals
& institutions by ensuring legal obligations are in
agreement with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act
(FERPA). Within this document the terms ‘iQity’ and
‘the system’ refer to the iQity e-Learning Platform,
which consists of the iQity™ Learning Management System,
the Reactor® Learning Object Repository, and
Reactor® Digital Rights Management; which are learning
products provided to the educational community by IQ
Innovations, LLC.
IQ Innovations, LLC reserves the right to modify this
Privacy Policy at any time and revisions are effective upon
posting.
iQity’s websites may include links to external websites,
operated by third parties. Such websites are not covered
under the IQ Innovations, LLC Privacy Policy.
FERPA Compliance
The student records policy of iQity is in agreement with
the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
This section describes our provision for compliance with
FERPA.
Statement:
IQ Innovations, LLC will not disclose (or allow access to)
any information from or about any student, except to
authorized administrative personnel within the educational
institution that is contracting our services.
Exceptions: with the explicit consent of the student or
institution, data may be made available to:
- • Officials of other institutions in which the student seeks to enroll,
- • Persons or organizations providing the student financial aid,
- • Accrediting agencies carrying out their accreditation function,
- • Authorized representatives of the federal and state governments for audit and evaluation of federal and state supported programs,
- • Persons in compliance with a judicial order,
- • Persons in an emergency in order to protect the health and safety of students or other persons.
All of the exceptions are permitted under the Act, but
require written permission before execution.
All student information residing within iQity is provided
voluntarily by the student and entered into the system by
the institution, or collected as a result of operations
performed by the student within the system.
Educational records concerning students maintained within
iQity may include (but are not limited to):
1. Personal or
demographic data as gathered through the registration
process
a. Name, grade, gender, address, etc.
2. Course data
a. Enrollments, withdrawals, grades
awarded/earned, dates of use, etc.
These educational records are under the direct supervision
and coordination of the institution. A student who
wishes to review any of his/her records may do so by
contacting his/her institution administrator.
Selected IQ Innovations, LLC personnel may have access to
(and are permitted to use) this data only as required to
maintain the internal functioning of iQity products in
compliance with our customer contracts.
Collection of Personal Information, Storing and Sharing
iQity may collect personal or demographic data for
students, teachers or education professionals through the
registration process. Information gathered may include, but
is not limited to, name, address, gender, grade, etc.
Information stored is used to track student progress, course
completion, grades, as well as general notifications for
administrators and other education professionals utilizing
the iQity platform.
Student information is gathered for the purpose of
coursework & access log tracking, grading,
parent/guardian contact information, and is stored on a
secure server, using industry-standard practices, behind a
hardened Firewall, with only administrative access, in a
password-protected Virtual Private Network, ensuring no
unauthorized individuals have access to this information.
Students are not required to provide an email address.
Education Professional information is gathered for the
purposes of customer support, billing, surveys, sales
management, user group memberships, support notifications
and other exchanges of information & is stored on a
secure sever, using industry-standard practices, behind a
hardened Firewall, with only administrative access, in a
password-protected Virtual Private Network, ensuring
no unauthorized individuals have access to this information.
All information transfers between the iQity system and
user’s computers are covered by High Grade SSL 128-bit
encryption, to ensure the integrity of any data being
transmitted. Any additional integration (such as SIS or Data
Warehouse) would use the same level of encryption to secure
data transfer.
Opt-Out
Education professionals may opt out of communications at
any time by emailing support@iq-ity.com or by the manner
indicated within such communications.
Third Party Information Disclosure
Information will not be shared with third parties without
explicit consent of the student or institution, or except to
authorized administrative personnel within the educational
institution that is contracting our services. Business
transfers, mergers or acquisitions may also result in
information disclosure as part of the IQ Innovations, LLC
business assets, as well as in the event of bankruptcy,
receivership and insolvency. Aggregate information may be
disclosed to third parties but will not identify any person
or educational entity individually. This includes
information provided to any vendors who may have their
published content available to our users through the
iQity LMS, as well as any output to school districts from
our Analytics package which is intended to inform schools
about the achievement and potential of their student body.
User Access
Users have access to correct, update and/or modify the data
contained within their user account via the iQity
platform. For data not available via the user account,
please contact support@iq-ity.com for additional assistance.
Cookies
A cookie may be stored on the end-user’s computer when
certain sections of our product are accessed. This
information is used to maintain status as users move from
one function to another within the system. We do not
store any user-identifiable information in the cookie (no
names, passwords, etc.) – merely that “the current user of
this computer [whomever that may be] is on step two of a
three-step process”, or “the current user is in the process
of completing an Assessment”, or similar data.
